Summer tobogganing
Children aged 3 and over may toboggan if accompanied. The companion must be at least 8 years old and at least 1.35 m tall. From the age of 8, everyone may toboggan alone. Unfortunately, children under the age of 3 are not allowed to toboggan for safety reasons. However, there are also many attractions without a minimum age.
Two people fit on one toboggan, but you are also welcome to toboggan alone. Please check the minimum age beforehand and bring an accompanying person (if necessary). We have noted down all the important dates of the attractions.
There is no maximum size, there are also tobogganers who are over 2 meters tall. Our maximum weight for the sledges on the summer toboggan run is 150 kg.
Our season starts at the end of March and we can operate until November if the weather is good. Take a look at our traffic light system for the daily opening times.

You do not need to book our toboggan run. We recommend booking in advance for groups of 30 people or more, but we are also prepared for spontaneous visits. Take a look at our offers.

No, you can buy our toboggan tickets easily and conveniently directly from us at the ticket office. But you can also buy them via our online store. It is not possible to reserve toboggan rides.
In any case! The 6-ticket is not personal and can be used by several people.
Yes, the GROUP PRICE is available on our rides for groups of 15 or more.
Yes - every toboggan rider must buy a ticket. Even if you are only the accompanying person for the under 8-year-old child.
Yes, the Ski- und Rodelarena site is also accessible with a wheelchair or baby carriage. The site is barrier-free.
We are actually open in almost any weather. Gray clouds and wind can't harm us. If there is a rain shower, we unfortunately have to close for a short time. To be on the safe side, just check the daily opening times before your visit.
The Rhönbob is an all-weather summer toboggan run - by putting on rain hoods, we can ride even in rain and snow and you stay dry during the ride. The double summer toboggan run, on the other hand, must be 100% dry. So if there is a rain shower, we will unfortunately have to close. If you are unsure, it is best to check the webcam.
You can access the Ski- und Rodelarena Wasserkuppe area free of charge. To use our rides, you will need to buy a ticket at our ticket offices on site. You can find the prices for our rides on our prices page.
Our toboggan tickets are valid for 3 years from the date of purchase. You will also find the expiration date on the toboggan tickets.
Our toboggan tickets are valid for all rides. You decide for yourself whether you redeem a ride for the double summer toboggan run, the Rhönbob, the Hexenbesen or the Wie-Li.
A visit to the summer toboggan run is always worthwhile! If you want to avoid a long queue, we recommend a visit in the morning if the weather forecast is good. The early bird sleds longer!
With your toboggan ticket, you go through the turnstile and get on the next free toboggan. Our staff will then give you a brief introduction to the braking system. And then the wild ride begins. Using the brake lever, you decide for yourself how fast you want to go. When you reach the bottom of the Rhönbob, you simply remain comfortably seated and are automatically pulled up again with our lift system.
On the double summer toboggan run, you have to get off briefly at the bottom, walk a short distance around the valley station and then take the next free toboggan to the top using the lift system.
Our Rhöbob is barrier-free. There are special conditions for people with a disabled pass and a registered accompanying person. You can find out more about the prices here.

Unfortunately, the double summer toboggan run is not barrier-free.
In your own interest and due to safety regulations, pregnant women are not permitted to use the summer toboggan run. However, there are plenty of good vantage points where you can watch your loved ones tobogganing in comfort.

A witches' broom fits 2 people, but you are also welcome to fly alone. Please note our minimum age and the obligation to be accompanied. We have noted all the important dates of the attractions.

Skiing
We are in close contact with Mrs. Holle. Our snow cannons do their best to ensure that you have perfect snow for skiing!
We update daily whether there is enough snow for skiing. If you are unsure, you should keep an eye on our daily opening times. There you will also find the current snow depths.
Our snow cannons can be put into operation from -3 °C. We can only start producing snow when it is permanently that cold. But we will keep you up to date when we should start producing snow.
You can check our weather forecast to find out when temperatures will fall below 0 °C.
Helmets are not compulsory on our ski slopes. However, we strongly recommend wearing a helmet while skiing. You protect yourself and others from an accident.
If you don't have your own helmet, you can hire one directly from the ski hire shop.
You can access the Ski- und Rodelarena Wasserkuppe free of charge. To use our lifts, you have to buy a ticket at our ticket offices on site.
Alternatively, you can also buy your ticket online in the webshop.

The ski rental opens at the same time as the ski lifts. On busy days, the ski rental is generally open half an hour before the ski lifts so that you can rent your skis at your leisure. So check the opening times of the ski slopes. As soon as a slope is open, you can hire skis.

We keep getting requests from people who want to hire ski trousers from us. We do not offer ski pants and ski jackets for hire.
You can simply leave your street shoes at the ski rental. There is a locker for rucksacks and valuables, but the number is limited, so you have to be there in good time.

Every guest receives freshly disinfected shoes from us. All shoes are heated so that you can step into the snow with a good feeling.
Of course! The Märchenwiesen ski school offers the right coaching for everyone. Here you can learn your first turns on skis and snowboard.
You can only hire alpine skis from us. You cannot hire cross-country skis from us.
Borrowing is only possible from the age of 18. If someone is younger, we require a declaration of consent from their parents and a copy of their ID. For school classes, the teacher's ID is sufficient.

You can easily book your course at the ski school online using our inquiry form. We will check your request with our ski instructors and get back to you as soon as possible.
You will find Skischule Märchenwiesen right next to the Zauberteppich. You can find your way around the ski area on our piste map.
Please pay your ski ticket and the fees for rented ski equipment directly at the respective location. A ski lift ticket is not included in the price of the rental equipment.
Ski and snowboard courses take place daily during the vacations (Thuringia, Hesse & Bavaria) - in the mornings and afternoons if there is sufficient snow. Outside the vacations, the courses take place regularly on Saturdays and Sundays. Group requests can be planned individually. The exact starting times (usually 10:30 am or 1:00 pm) depend on the weather and capacity utilization.
The courses last as follows:
Taster course: 2 hours
One-day course: 2 × 2.5 hours (incl. break)
2-day course: 2x 2 hours (on 2 consecutive days, e.g. Sat (2 x 2 hours) and Sun (2 x 2 hours)
Private lesson: individually on request (min. 1 hour)
As a rule, groups are divided up according to age and riding ability so that everyone is optimally looked after.
You can hire your equipment conveniently on site without making a reservation. The rental station is located in the immediate vicinity of the ski school. Please allow sufficient time (between 15 and 60 minutes depending on capacity) for the rental. Ski hire is provided by Wiegand Erlebnisberge GmbH and not by the Märchenwiesen Ski School. No, the equipment is charged separately, but can be conveniently booked at the ski rental shop.
Ski suit, gloves and helmet are compulsory. Helmets can be borrowed if required. Ski pants or a ski jacket must be brought along and cannot be rented.
Please pay your ski ticket and the fees for rented ski equipment directly at the respective location. A ski lift ticket is not included in the price of the rental equipment.
Yes, English-language courses or English-speaking teachers are available if you book in good time (at least 2 weeks in advance). We offer individual lessons and group courses (from 6 people).
Yes, of course. You can also get private lessons. Just give us a call or send us an e-mail.
You can pay for the ski course conveniently in cash on site or by bank transfer in advance.
At least 60 to 90 minutes before the start of the course, so that there is enough time for registration, changing and, if necessary, renting equipment. Meeting point is at the Märchenwiese ski school (directly at the Zauberteppich).
Ski school is only possible for children aged 6 and over
Yes, both group courses and individual lessons for adults - from beginners to those returning to the sport. Group courses take place regularly at fixed times. Individual lessons on request.
Booking request directly via the request form on the website. In the high season, we recommend booking at least 1 to 2 weeks in advance. Please note: Sending your request does not constitute a booking or registration confirmation.
Spontaneous participation is possible if places are available. As a rule, it is advisable to register at least 1 to 2 weeks in advance.
The ski season depends on the snow conditions. It's best to check the opening times.
Courses take place in almost all conditions. They are only canceled or postponed in the event of storms, rain or a lack of snow. But this happens very rarely.
First steps in the snow, getting up, braking, balance, first attempts at gliding. Goal: fun in the snow and a safe feeling on skis. We coordinate with the course participants and find a suitable learning pace so that everyone is happy and has fun.
The taster course for children and adults focuses on the Zauberteppich. The use of the drag lift is also practiced during the day course. We check at the start of the course whether the use of the drag lift should be practiced. Alternatively, we also ski uphill with the Wie-Li.

Our recommendation is to strap on your skis, ski to the valley station once and then buy your ski ticket directly without waiting.
If you prefer, you can also buy the tickets as vouchers in the webshop. However, these still have to be exchanged on site.
Yes, you can pay with all major EC cards and credit cards. The safest way to pay is to check our summer and winter prices.
The best place to look is under Directions, where you will find all the directions. Whether by bike, car or bus.
The early bird skis longer and has the slopes to himself at the beginning! In the morning, when most guests are still on their way to the Wasserkuppe, you have particularly short waiting times. Another tip: on Friday and Saturday you can usually ski and snowboard until 22:00. Please note the daily traffic light system.
Yes, you can. You can buy them in our webshop. There you have the option of sending them directly or printing them out.
We open daily from 10 am. Depending on the time of year and vacations, we are open at least until 5 p.m. and longer if required. We are also open on public holidays!

There are two seasons: summer and winter. The summer season starts in mid-April and ends at the beginning of November. Our winter season starts in mid-December and usually ends in mid-March when it gets warmer again...
On our homepage there is a traffic light system for the opening times, where our individual attractions are constantly updated.
We are a pet-friendly adventure mountain, so you are welcome to bring your four-legged friend with you. We ask you to keep dogs on a lead. However, dogs are not allowed on the summer toboggan run.
You can park comfortably on our parking lots. It's only a 5-minute walk to the Ski- und Rodelarena Wasserkuppe. The signs will show you the way.

When you arrive with your group, simply report to the toboggan cash desk. Here we will explain everything to you and you will receive your complete birthday package.
Pre-registration or reservation is not necessary. Simply contact us at the toboggan cash desk on the day of the children's birthday party. There you will receive all further information about tobogganing and food.
It is best to plan 1.5 - 2 hours for your stay. You can decide individually how long you would like to stay with us.

Our prices are divided into different age categories:
On the summer toboggan run, guests up to the age of 14 pay the price for children. Guests aged 15 and over pay the adult price.

We need the following information:
- Date and time of the planned arrival

Your details are only required for internal processes and will not be saved or passed on to third parties.
We subject our lifts to the statutory TÜV inspection at regular intervals. The rides are also serviced daily. If you follow the safety instructions of our staff on site and the signs on the track, accidents are virtually impossible.

The Märchenwiesenhütte offers hot food throughout its opening hours.
If you are only traveling with your family or in a small group, a reservation is not necessary.

We generally recommend making a reservation for the brunch. Otherwise we may be fully booked. Just give us a call and make a reservation or fill outour ONLINE RESERVATIONform.
Of course, you can pay for your food and drink in our Märchenwiesenhütte with all major debit and credit cards.
Are you ill at short notice or are there significantly fewer guests? Then please contact us so that we can react. A phone call(06654 / 8640) or a short email(maerchenwiesenhuette@wiegand-erlebnisberge.de) is sufficient.
Our brunch takes place on the upper floor of the Märchenwiesenhütte. Just ask our staff for your reserved table.
Of course we offer vegetarian dishes. If you are unsure, just ask us!
Dogs are also welcome in the Märchenwiesenhütte. We only ask that your dog does not disturb you or other guests during the breakfast brunch. We rely on mutual consideration and understanding for each other.
